#CGHR Oktoberfest 2023


EVENT RECAP


The Fourth Annual Carolina Girls Hoops Report #Oktoberfest was held in Mooresville, NC at the Talbert Recreation center on the weekend of October 7 - 8, 2023. Here are the top teams and players from the event.


Team List:


  • Wilkes Hoop Group Fire 16U (2025) (NC) - Finished the weekend 4 - 0 and did a good job of shooting the ball. 2026 - 5’10” - Guard Laney Shook led the team in scoring all weekend pouring in 60 points over four games for a 15.0/Pt game average. Shook led the event with nine made three pointers.  2027 - Wing - Ava Head was second on the team with a 9.5/Pt game average, Head was second in three pointers made with eight over her four games in Mooresville, she is a smooth shooter, was “lights out” when she had an open look.  2026 - 5’11” - Wing - Abby Eller - showcased a high skill set, with her ability to pass the ball and knock down open jump shots consistently. 2026 - Guard - Malayah Adams & 2026 - Wing - Meredith Wike - both were consistent players on both ends of the court all weekend.  


  • Palmetto Pressure 14U/15U (2028/2029) (SC) - Finished the weekend 3 - 0 and really showcased their top prospects all weekend in Mooresville. 2029 - Guard - Reagan Ferguson - had a breakout weekend by demonstrating her athleticism and scoring ability from all three levels.  Ferguson averaged 14.0/Pts game and added two three pointers along with a lot of rebounds, steals and assists. 2029 - 6’2” - Forward - Dakota Jenkins - continued to show her growth on the court. She averaged 10/Pts a game and was a force on the block, but also added a couple of three pointers to stretch the floor along with her interior defense and high motor. 2029 - Guard - Cyniya Watts - Had a strong weekend on both sides of the court to help her team, 2028 - Wing - Lyric Rogers - also had a great weekend of play.


  • Charlotte Monarchs 17U (2024) (NC) - Finished the weekend 2 - 0 and really played well as a team. 2025 - Guard - Devin Long - has continued to score the basketball at a high clip. She finished the weekend at 11.5/Pts a game continuing a hot summer. 2024 - Guard - Tiana Gongora - 9.5/Pts game showed that she is ready for a great senior year on the court. She is the only returning all conference performer from last year's squad. 2024 - 5’10” -  Forward - Jada Richardson - 9.0/Pts game showcased her ability to affect the game with her rebounding and defensive ability.  2026 - Forward - Mya Young - shot the ball very well and will have a strong year.


  • Carolina Hornets United 14U (2028) (NC) - Finished the weekend 2 - 0 and is a group that will be making their names known nationally over the next 2 - 3 years. The team was led by 2028 - Guard - Kaylin Kenseth - 12.5/Pts game. She knocked down four three pointers over the two games. She was very aggressive and looked for her shots early on in games. 2028 - Guard - Alaysia Gonzalez Ortiz - 7.5/Pts game is a dynamic combo guard that was all over the floor playing defense and knocking down big shots for her team. 2028 - 6’0” - Guard - Finley Sherrill - 7.5/Pts game is a matchup problem that was able to get loose and knock down three - three pointers and find her teammates for easy baskets. 2028 - Guard - Ariah Heard and 2028 - Guard - Amara Cashwell - both played extremely well bringing great energy and defensive intensity.


  • Wilkes Hoops Group Fire 11U (2030) (NC) - Finished Sunday 1 - 0. This team has strong prospects and will be a team to watch as they get more experience. 2030 - Guard - Heavenly Craig - Scored 20 Pts to lead the team and displayed advanced scoring ability and skills. Craig is a combo Guard with the ability to shoot the three pointer consistently. 2030 - 5’11” - Forward - Harmony Michaux - 12 Pts, 9 Rebounds, 2 Steals was very impressive on both sides of the court. She is a fluid athlete who is still growing and getting better on the offensive side. 2030 - Guard - Ziyah Bailey - 19 pts - Used her nice handle and ability to get to the rim and cause havoc on the court. This group will be a problem for years to come.



Top Player List:


  • 2024 - 5’5” - Guard - Re’Ale Walton - Reign Academy (NC) - Led her team with a 15.6/Pt game average and knocked down five three pointers to go along with outstanding defense. Re’Ale is a player that does well in a fast paced setting and is a great floor leader, I expect her to have a great senior year at Northwest Cabarrus HS.


  • 2028 - 5’7” - Guard - Jade Bell - Charlotte Monarchs (NC) - Played extremely well in her age group games. She scored 28 points, having the weekend lead as high scorer and averaged 20.5/Pts for the day.  Jade is going to have a breakout year at United Faith Christian Academy as a combo guard that can score at all 3 levels.


  • 2029 - 4’10’ - Guard - Jha’Ziya Babb - Boo Williams (VA) - Highlight reel player that was very exciting to watch. She loves to attack the rim and finish with her floater or drop “Dimes” to her teammates for easy buckets.  Jha’Ziya has the ability to create space to take jumpers and three pointers over taller players, high level competitor.


  • 2029 - 5’5” - Guard - Kaitlyn Trotter - Carolina Hornets United (NC) - Outstanding young guard that can play all three backcourt positions, is very athletic and has long arms that help her when playing the passing lanes. Kaitlyn averaged 11.0/Pts per game during the event while providing court leadership, versatile defense and rebounding.


  • 2026 - 6’0” - Forward - Zoe Rector - Team Hickory (NC) - Versatile scorer that can really stretch the floor with her long range shooting. High IQ player that can handle the ball and attack off the dribble.  Zoe is a skilled player that does a great job on the block of scoring and getting rebounds, she will be a great addition to a college looking to add scoring and court leadership.


  • 2030 - 5’10” - Forward - Totianna Miller - Boo Williams (VA) - Played extremely well for her team, has great shot form and range to beyond the three point line in game play. Totianna is a skilled player that has the ability to take over a game with her inside/outside scoring ability, high IQ and passing ability that keeps her defenders guessing.  Looking forward to seeing her growth on the court over the next few years.


  • 2030 - 5’4” - Guard - Naja Gray - Palmetto Pressure (SC) - Played very well all weekend and showed the skills to play on the ball and run the team and can also operate as the primary scorer. Naja can shoot the basketball with great form and range to beyond the three point line, also attacks the rim to finish and use her floater when needed.


  • 2027 - 5’9” - Forward - TanDriyana Allison - Reign Academy (NC) - Played with great energy all weekend. TanDriyana is a versatile scorer that can dominate on the block with her great moves and rebounding ability, also can shoot the basketball with great form and consistency from the mid-range.
